Qld: Pet barn hit again by bird smugglers

A Gold Coast pet shop has been hit again by bird thieves.

Security cameras show a trio of people taking a black capped lorikeet .. valued at
one thousand-800 dollars .. from its cage at the Pet Barn at Nerang.

Pet Barn spokesman JUSTIN WESTAWAY has told the Nine Network they knew what they were
after .. and it took about four minutes to complete the theft.

The store has offered a reward of 500 dollars for its return.





On November 1 .. 23-year-old Brisbane man DANIEL LLOYD O'BRYAN pleaded guilty in the
Brisbane Magistrates Court to one count of stealing on September 29.

The court heard O'BRYAN was in the Nerang Pet Barn when he took a lover lorikeet from
its cage and stuffed it in his trousers before leaving the store.

The theft was caught on video surveillance camera and shown on television.

Mr O'BRYAN later returned the bird and turned himself in.

The court fined him 150 dollars.
